The Orange County Fair board has given the equestrians an opportunity to develop an equine alternative use plan for the 7.5 acres where the equestrian center is now located. Staff is pushing for a parking lot. They call this “flat flexible space.”
This is our chance. The board seems open to us and is waiting to see if the equestrians can “step up” and prove our worth.
Several trainers at the OC Fairground Equestrian Center have already developed community programs and equine exhibits for the Fair. But your help is needed to get the job done.
Here’s what is needed:
Contacts - please connect us to people you know that would help our cause. It’s not limited to just the OC Fairgrounds but the preservation our equestrian lifestyle here in OC. Send us names, information, links, anything that may remotely help. This also includes links to non-equestrian groups, as a main focus will be outreach to the non-equestrian communities. Leave no stone unturned.
Petition - help circulate our petition. Download the Petition Here (Download additional petition sheets here)
Membership - by becoming a member you increase our numbers, which provides political clout. Your contributions also help with our operating expenses. We are a non-profit organization. Please renew your membership or become a member online at ecoc.org.
Volunteers - we need database organizers, speakers for outreach groups, people to help with community service programs and the general needs of the coalition.
Ideas - we want to hear your ideas and welcome your input.
The equestrians in Orange County have an incredible opportunity to create a positive shift for equestrians not only in this county but the state and the nation. Our community programs help create awareness and support for horses. Hopefully our programs will increase appreciation for our equine friends and also develop new equestrians. Our goal is to create positive shifts in decision makers so they will allow us not only to preserve current equestrian facilities but also develop more.
What happens at the OC Fairgrounds
will impact the rest of the county.
Let’s make our efforts count!
